A set of outdoor stairs attached to a light-colored building is visible on the left, with a police officer standing in the distance near the tape. The surrounding area has leaf-covered ground, trees, and lampposts, suggesting the scene is in a public park.

A shooting near Vallejo’s City Park left one person injured Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., officers responded to a report that a man had been shot in the leg by another man in an older-model white SUV. The suspect left before police arrived, and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A more than 50-foot blood trail wound through the scene of the shooting. Officers found a bloody phone near an old orange Chevrolet pickup truck. Next to it, they found a loaded, vintage pistol. Police could be observed speaking with witnesses, including a woman with a young child.

An orange pickup truck with chipped paint is parked at the curb. Yellow police tape crosses in front of the frame. Two police officers in dark uniforms and boots stand near the rear of the truck, leaning down as if examining something. One officer is wearing bright blue protective gloves and holding a recovered revolver.

Less than ten minutes later, a dispatcher advised officers of a report of gunfire in the 1200 block of Marin Street, just around the corner from the crime scene. A caller told police that an occupant of a blue Nissan fired three shots and that the incident could possibly be related. No injuries were reported from the neighboring incident, according to dispatch audio. It is not clear whether the incidents were related.

Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
