Since the start of the year, Vallejo has experienced a wave of gun violence, with police responding to reports of a shooting nearly every day. To date, none have been fatal, according to police.

Elsewhere in Vallejo at roughly the same time, multiple callers reported that a man was firing a handgun in the air somewhere south of Thursday’s shooting. Public records show around that time police received two automated alerts of gunfire near the 100 block of Buss Street and the 300 block of Carlson Street, but were unable to verify the reports.

Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis was not immediately available for comment.
