A two-vehicle crash Wednesday left one driver critically injured after being trapped in his burning car, with another driver and two firefighters suffering minor injuries.

The crash occurred arout 8:37 a.m. at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Solano Avenue, according to the Vallejo Fire Department. A Chevrolet Camaro SS, apparently traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the back of a city of Vallejo maintenance truck before bursting into flames.

Vallejo police officers were the first to arrive on scene, according to fire officials. They attempted to control the flames with fire extinguishers until a Vallejo fire engine arrived. Firefighters found the driver of the Camaro trapped in the front seat and extracted him through the driver’s side window. He was transported to the hospital with major injuries and was listed in critical condition, according to the fire department.

A Vallejo city worker driving the other vehicle involved in the crash and two firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
