Vallejo police are investigating the 12th homicide in the city this year, after police officers and firefighters found a man shot dead inside a car Monday morning.

Police received a call of an unresponsive man inside a parked car on the 600 block of Ohio Street at around 6:45 a.m., according to public records. Police and firefighters arrived at the scene about an hour later.

Police and firefighters tried to speak with the man, but he was unresponsive, according to a police department press release. Officers found the victim had been shot at least once while inside the car. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officials are withholding the man’s identity until they have notified his next of kin, Solano County Sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa McDowell told Open Vallejo Wednesday.
