Vallejo police are investigating the 11th homicide of 2025 after a man was found dead on the 100 block of Carolina Street Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired less than a block away from Vallejo City Hall at approximately 1:05 p.m. Thursday, according to dispatch audio. They arrived at the Carolina Heights affordable housing complex to find a door ajar, and an adult male victim on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis said in an interview with Open Vallejo Friday.

Medical personnel arrived minutes later, according to dispatch audio. At approximately 1:25 p.m., a firefighter on scene called for a coroner and cancelled medical aid. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene, Hollis confirmed.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin, according to a Vallejo Police Department press release.
