A Vallejo police SUV collided with a blue sedan Tuesday evening, leaving an officer and one other person with minor injuries.
At approximately 5:25 p.m., a Vallejo police SUV was responding to a separate incident with lights and sirens activated when the crash occurred at the intersection of Tennessee and Broadway Streets, police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis told Open Vallejo Thursday.
It is not known who was at fault in the collision. The police department is in the preliminary stages of its investigation, Hollis said. He declined to name the parties to the crash, saying only that one officer was in the police vehicle and one individual was in the other vehicle and that both were treated at a local hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
However, Open Vallejo has identified the driver of the police SUV as Ofc. Forrest Coleman based on witness statements and public records. He did not respond to a request for comment for this article. A person who said they are a family member of the other driver also did not respond to a request for comment.
Coleman began his law enforcement career with the Vallejo Police Department in 2022 before transferring to the Vacaville Police Department the following year, public records show. He rejoined Vallejo police in 2024.

The crash occurred the same week as an alleged hit-and-run just four blocks away that left a man with life-threatening injuries, according to police. On Aug. 31, at approximately 12:05 a.m., a car struck a cyclist at the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Tennessee Street. Police said in a statement the following day that officers contacted the driver, who was cooperative.
In the same statement, police said the victim had died at a local hospital. However, the Solano County Coroner’s Office said Thursday that the man is alive. Hollis declined to comment on the record regarding the discrepancy.
On Aug. 9, an unknown driver killed a pedestrian in a hit-and-run at Sonoma Boulevard and Missouri Street, less than half a mile from the Aug. 31 collision. First responders pronounced the individual dead at the scene, marking the city’s tenth official traffic-related fatality.
