A shooting in Downtown Vallejo left one person in critical condition Thursday evening, according to dispatch audio.

At approximately 9:47 p.m., police received a report from a woman who said her car had been shot at and a male was shot in the head on the 200 block of Curtola Parkway. Responding officers found the victim in critical condition in the back of a food truck near Maine Street a block and a half away.

Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis said the victim was still in critical condition Friday, and is being treated at a local hospital. No arrests have been made.

This was the third shooting in Vallejo Thursday. Earlier, two back-to-back shootings a mile and a half from each other left two individuals injured. Around 11:47 a.m., a man was both struck by a Ford Ranger and shot. Less than two hours later, a man walked into a local business with a gunshot wound. Both victims sustained injuries that were not life threatening, according to Hollis.

On Tuesday, two Cal Maritime students were injured in the crossfire of a shootout on a major Vallejo intersection near Downtown. A university official told Open Vallejo the students were innocent bystanders. One student was shot in the face, and the other in the neck.

While no homicides due to gun violence have been reported in Vallejo so far in 2025, the city has grappled with a string of shootings that have left at least 10 people injured, including a 4-year-old girl. On Friday, a person walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, according to scanner audio. On Jan. 17, a man was killed after being stabbed in the neck in South Vallejo, marking the first homicide of the year.

This month’s shootings in Vallejo come on the heels of one of Vallejo’s deadliest years in decades, with 25 killings in 2024. The city’s homicide count has remained above 20 since 2020, when there were 29 homicides.
