A man was shot in an attempted robbery Monday, according to Vallejo police.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Sonoma Boulevard and Couch Street around 7:42 p.m., according to dispatch audio. The victim was found near Sonoma Boulevard and Mississippi Street with a gunshot wound to the foot and was treated on the scene.

Vallejo police spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis confirmed that police were investigating the incident as an attempted robbery. Hollis told Open Vallejo Tuesday that the suspect escaped on foot, and that no arrests have been made at this time. Vallejo police vehicles circulated around the neighborhood for a short time before moving on to other calls Monday night. One could be seen parked for several minutes while officers spoke with witnesses.

Hollis said the victim’s injuries were not life threatening.
