Community members will gather Friday evening for a vigil to honor victims of violence in Vallejo.

The vigil is scheduled for 5 p.m. outside the Vallejo Police Department at 111 Amador Street, according to organizers.

“We are holding space for victims of gun violence, community violence, and police violence,” a flyer for the event reads.

Shootings, crashes, and deadly police chases have rocked the community in recent weeks. A Wednesday night fatal shooting on Sonoma Boulevard marked the city’s 14th homicide of 2024. A week before, a 16-year-old boy was shot to death on Carolina Street. In addition, two people have died and at least six people have been injured in crashes that followed police pursuits this month in Vallejo.
