For the second time in three days, a Vallejo police SUV collided with a civilian vehicle on city streets, disabling both vehicles and prompting an emergency response.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, a Vallejo police SUV struck a 2002 Acura at Curtola Parkway and Alameda Street, according to public records. The impact drove the Acura’s right rear tire partially under the car and left a side panel crushed, while the SUV’s airbags deployed on impact, suggesting a moderate to severe collision.

Vallejo police initially requested two ambulances but later canceled one, according to dispatch audio. Two people at the scene declined medical attention. “They said they’re fine,” an officer reported.

Tow trucks removed both the police SUV and the Acura. Officers took one of the coupe’s two occupants into custody.

The crash occurred as officers responded to vehicles participating in a sideshow, according to dispatch audio. Officers abandoned their pursuit following the collision.

On Tuesday, a Vallejo police SUV collided with a sedan at Tennessee and Broadway Streets, injuring an officer and one other person. The crashes occurred the same week an alleged hit-and-run at Sonoma Boulevard and Tennessee Street left a bicyclist with life-threatening injuries.
